You are considering a dental implant treatment? You are bombarded with ads and offers and wandering how to choose the right place? Don’t leave things to chance because you may sadly regret it.

1. Implants should be planned with a 3D CBCT scan rather than a simple X-ray!
Fail to plan is plan to fail. Poor planning is the biggest factor for complications in the treatment process. Let’s face it! This happens way too often as there are many practices that are led mostly by their commercial goals rather than your health benefit. You should be highly alerted if you are promised an implant treatment based only on your X-ray.
There is one simple rule in dental implantology – NO BONE – NO IMPLANT! In fact this is the reality in 50% of the patient cases. And the X-ray is worth almost NOTHING when proving if there is enough bone. There is a clear position statement from the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology (AAOMR) “that CBCT is the imaging method of choice for gaining the assessment of all dental implant sites”.
So, in short, any promise for an implant treatment based on an X-ray, rather than a 3D CBCT scan is a SCAM! You will end up losing your money but more importantly health issues will follow shortly.
2. Go for surgical guides / guided surgery!
The lack of guided surgery can be a sign that the clinic is using outdated protocols and your health benefits are not their number one priority. Guided surgery is the proven technique for implantation which guarantees accuracy, faster recovery and most importantly long-term success. 3. Aftercare
Dental implants can last as long as natural teeth, as long as they’re cared for properly. It is a common misconception that once you have implants and artificial teeth you don’t need to take care of them. This is a very easy way that will lead you into troubles.
Implant aftercare involves detailed home cleaning by yourself, regular reviews and cleaning from your hygienist and a regular review with your implant dentist to monitor the health of your implant.
